After the day in Himeji, I backtracked a little and went back to Akashi's Uondana market district. I had seen a stand-up sushi bar and wanted to try it. As in Tsukiji in Tokyo (where I didn't get to eat sushi), the seafood was expected to be fresh. I wasn't disappointed. We ate at Honoka and I highly recommend. They offer traditional Japanese cuisine (no menu! they offer what's good for the day!), but we focused on sushi. I was so busy I didn't take a photo of the first serving (we had sushi, fried fugu (puffy fish), osumashi (clear soup, and chawanmushi). This is the second order (we had to!). From top right, squid, octopus, and red snapper. They were all fresh and excellent but the octopus (Akashi is famous for it) was the best I ever had. Nothing gummy nor chewy.
